VACANCY NOTICE

Position Title:    Alternative Educational Academy of Ogemaw County Social Worker, Location is West Branch, MI – full time or part time school year position

Position Description:

The individual selected for this position will provide in-person and remote, social work services to students in the 6-12 grade school setting to address social/emotional/mental health needs.  Responsibilities will also involve coordinating behavioral supports for intensive-need students and direct student therapy will be conducted per students’ Individualized Education Plan goals.  


Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the following requirements in the State of Michigan:
1.        Master’s degree from Accredited University 
2.        Full approval or able to attain temporary approval as a School Social Worker 
3.        Meet the requirements as specified in the most recent Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.        Provide consultation, collaboration, and advisement services to students, their families, and school staff regarding the students’ social, emotional, and behavioral status that impacts school success

2.        Implement school social work services to caseload students as well as within a multi-tiered intervention model

3.        Provide effective behavior intervention strategies and techniques

4.        Develop functional behavior assessments and written behavior intervention plans

5.        Provide crisis prevention, and intervention services including assessments of the impact of trauma on school performance.

6.        Utilize multiple methods of collecting data, and provide measurable goals for intervention.

7.        Provide and interpret assessments and evaluations to determine eligibility for special education programs and services

8.        Develop, implement and monitor individual education plans for identified students

9.        Implement the District’s emergency use of seclusion and restraint if a student’s behavior poses an imminent risk to the safety of that student or others

10.        Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by supervisor.
