Student with teacher

The Iosco RESA Career and Technical Education Center would like to take this opportunity to recognize Julia May as “Professional Student of the Month” for March 2025. Julia is the daughter of Don and Debbie May.  She is a senior at Whittemore-Prescott High School.

Julia May is a second year Teacher Cadet who attends Whittemore-Prescott High School.  Over her past two years in the Teacher Prep Academy Program, she has worked in 8 different Host Classrooms ranging from Kindergarten to 4th Grade, and everything in between -- including Physical Education!  She fell in love with her 2nd graders last fall, and in her final semester as a Cadet, she asked to be scheduled with them as 3rd graders, so that she could see how they've grown academically and socially.

Ms. Julia, as her students call her, has taken this program extremely seriously.  She's created fun and educational lesson plans, units, and learning board games.  She has found joy in working one-on-one with special needs students, and has even learned a bit of sign language!  Ms. Julia loves to read with early elementary students!

Ms. Julia is the first Whittemore-Prescott Teacher Cadet to earn her MiYDA Certificate which will allow her to work in After School Programs while at college.  And speaking of college, Julia May has been accepted into Saginaw Valley State University, and plans to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.”

To be nominated for “Professional Student of the Month”, a student must have outstanding work ethics, no absences or tardies for the month, no discipline issues and at least a B grade point average. Iosco RESA Tech Center offers the following programs for 11th and 12th grade students: Automotive Technology, Building Trades, Business Management, Culinary Arts & Restaurant Management, Health Science, Teacher Prep Academy, and Welding & Fabrication.
