
Adult Literacy Program
Overview:
Northeast Michigan Reads is a new adult literacy program designed to help adults read and excel in life, work, and community. Our goal is to support all adults in developing the literacy skills they need to succeed and thrive in every aspect of their lives.
Services Offered:
Northeast Michigan Reads provides comprehensive literacy services in multiple areas:
Reading Literacy - Develop and strengthen fundamental reading skills
Digital Literacy - Learn essential computer and internet skills for today's world
Financial Literacy - Understand money management, banking, and budgeting
Medical Literacy - Navigate healthcare information and communicate with medical professionals
Workplace/Life Skills - Build practical skills for employment and daily living
Who is Eligible?
Our program serves adults aged 18 and older throughout Northeast Michigan. The program is completely free and meets at public libraries throughout the region for convenient access.
Interested in becoming a tutor?
Our program is currently open to volunteer tutors!
No experience necessary
Low commitment – just 1 hour per week (you pick the time!)
